I think the coverage is a little better with the new formulation but it's very hard to put on because it doesn't glide easily. I use the Advanced Time Zone Hydrating Gel Oil-Free and I have to put on my makeup immediately before it dries. However, I still have trouble getting it to spread. I can't use the Time Zone Cream or the Resilience cream because then it's too greasy and my makeup starts to slide off. This is my second bottle and probably my last purchase of this makeup. It's far too expensive.
What happened? Many years ago I found the perfect makeup, Double Matte oil control color cool pebble. I have had no luck duplicating the color or consistency with your NEW formula, terrible mistake and it appears I am not alone with this analogy. Time for a new search and a new company.
I love your 2C1 dusk makeup foundation. So happy with it. I am trying to find thesame but it became 3w1. I'm afraid to try to the new formula due to generally negative feedbacks about it. I did get a 2-day sample and of the 3w1 but I seem to like the 2c1 dusk kmore. Will you ever make it with the old formula again?. I spend a lot in Estée products monthly. Please don't make me go to another brand. Thanks
Best For Oily Skin, acne prone skin, full coverage
Contrary to what other people have written, I believe the new formula is better than the old formula. The old formula was too thick and difficult to apply. The new formula has a lighter consistency, but is not gel-like like DW Light. I think this makes it easier to blend. It also does not dry as fast as the old formula, which also allows you to blend this foundation better. The old formula also settled in pores, especially in low light situations - totally unflattering. I don't notice any of these problems with the new formula. Its lighter, yet still provides full coverage and controls oil. And of course, it stays put and doesn't melt away because of oil, heat or humidity. I have tried many other high-end foundations and I always return to this. Just remember to always use a makeup remover to take it off before you cleanse so that it wont clog your pores. I also wish the bottle had a pump, but I was told that because the formula is on the thick side, it clogs pumps and this is why EL has not put a pump on it.
Thank you for bringing back Shell in Double Wear foundation. Finally a shade to match my skin. I love the formula of Double Wear, and just started wearing it about 6 months ago. But the lightest shade, Cool Bone was just a bit too dark for me. Shell is a perfect match. As long as you keep making it, I will keep buying it. Thanks again!!!
I've used doublewear Sand for Years. Now the colors have changed and it no longer contains sunscreen. I ordered the comparable color to Sand on the recommendation of an online chat representative, and it's way too light and just doesn't go on the same. Blotchy and pastey. Yuck. I'm now hording the old color from online auctions. I wish they'd bring back the old formula. NOT HAPPY.
I just visited an Estee Lauder counter only to be told my shade (Shell) no longer existed in DoubleWear, and nothing really comparable seems to have been put in its place. I am extremely concerned. It is listed on the website under a new number (1C0), but does not appear in any of the counter information booklets or displays. I love my foundation and might have been willing to order online just to get my shade, but after reading these reviews about formula changes (which no one told me about at the counter) I am considering no longer buying my foundation from Estee Lauder.
I have used Double Wear in Fresco for at lest 10 years or more. All of a sudden the color has changed. I have spent so much money on different shades that are horrible on me. I was using a lot of Estee Lauder products, but not anymore. They also discontinued there double wear duo lipstick which was great. So frustrating!!
I have NEVER spent so much money on any makeup, ever! I buy the doublewear foundation and the powder. I don't think there is anything in existence that can compare to what Doublewear USED to be. My mom and my grandmother, and I are a long line of Doublewear followers. I haven't been wanting to spend the money this summer, however. School is about to start back up and I decided it was high time that I treat myself. I bought these again. The powder was the same, the foundation doesn't cover like it used to. I cant blend it as easily and it leaves blotchy, dry spots all around my face. It used to be really oily, but I could live with it, now it is horrible on my oily skin. I have dry spots, and NEED the powder to get the coverage the foundation used to provide. I would recommend it, but not as a 37 dollar estee lauder foundation, more like a 20 dollar MAC foundation (which is a part of the company but will never compare to my favorite Estee). Just stop, Estee Lauder, you keep changing everything and you can not fix what is not broken. If you feel like wasting MORE money on the powder AND primer, give this foundation a go, but I don't want to spend money on a primer when I just threw away 37 dollars for a foundation, for that price it shouldn't need it.
This used to be my HOLY GRAIL foundation, but not anymore! To say that I am irate that the foundation has changed would be an ABSOLUTE understatement. The new formula is thinner in consistency and no longer possesses the longevity that the old formula had. I understand the broadening of the color range, but in the process of broadening the color range and removing the SPF the formula completely changed. This was the only foundation that I used since I was sixteen. I am getting married in the near future, and I am at a loss as to what to use as my foundation on my wedding day since my beloved Double Wear formula has been annihilated. I also used to use the perfectionist and advanced night repair but I REFUSE to purchase any more Estee Lauder products (or purchase anything products owned by Estee Lauder including my beloved creme de la mer) as I am deeply disappointed with this change! I beg you, Estee Lauder, please change the formula back to its original state! Until then, I bid you adieu Estee Lauder!
As a disclaimer, I would have given the new product 0 stars if it would have allowed me to do so!
This makeup has to be the best invention since...say the wheel, fire.. sliced bread. I struggled for years with foundation that let blemishes bleed through and didn't last past noon. I tried Double Wear 7 years ago & have been satisfied ever since. I put it on in the morning and I don't have to reapply at all. My friends are amazed at the coverage of even the tiniest of blemishes. My skin looks smooth & beautiful after Double Wear. Double coverage all day long. Double fabulous!
I have spent the last 4-6 months trying to find a perfect shade and coverage that I was looking for. I have some imperfections (scarring, acne, redspots) I have finally found my perfect makeup, coverage is amazing and stays well on into the day. I use the lucidity loose powder in the morning and take my lucidity pressed powder in my purse for a midday powder on my nose since i am extremely oily in my t-zone. Love Estee Lauder so much! My makeup looks flawless and not overdone or cakey!
OMG. I FINALLY found a foundation that matches my skin color, which is extremely hard. I have acne prone skin with hyper pigmentation marks and this covered it all up with so little product; that has never happened with any other foundation. I used this foundation on a nigh out to the club, the club was inside and out, I went out to eat after and when I got home my makeup was exactly the same as when I first applied it, no shiny forehead or cheeks it was just perfect. Absolutely AMAZING.
I have always loved the natural coverage Double Wear has given me. When they changed the colors it was a bit of a challenge so I went to local department store that carries Estee Lauder. The sales staff was very helpful helping me find my replacement shade. I had always used a little darker shade of powder with my old color so I switched my powder to a lighter shade and it worked perfect. They also told me that the SPF is still in the foundation but with the new federal guidelines they can't put it on the jar as it is below the SPF standards.
Estee Lauder has been in our family for over 50 years; We especially liked 'Age Control Cream' which we can't find now (?) -- Gone But Not Forgotten, is the ideal phrase, as we hope we can convince you to bring it back, for us "oldtimers" who know a good night cream when we use it. The make-up is and has been also a family favorite -- no streaking, a "powder fresh look" with high-lights, and emmaculate texture when you smooth it on; And, the colors can be individualized to suit the skin type of the wearer. Always a good quality for the price.
While I still like this foundation for its staying power, I am in agreement with many other reviewers in the disappointment in change in colors and no more SPF factor. It does seem like the new colors are darker. Bone was lighter as well as the 1c1 when it was shell. Hard to mix to get lighter when everything is darker as well.
I wanted this to work. I work 12 hour shifts, and have read so many positive reviews about this makeups staying power. Unfortunately, the lights in the dept store where the EL staff applied this must have been much different then my home or natural light. With the shade I was recommended I appeared very pale when I got home. I had lost my receipt, contacted EL via email, and they issued me a box in which to return my product, and issued me a full refund. Great customer service. It is on my to do list to find my perfect shade, because I did like the texture of this make up.
