New Formula Stinks!!!
Date:December 17, 2012
I have been an Estée Lauder DW user for years, my mom, sister, aunts and so many people I know wear this. Coverage and everything about it used to be amazing... I was always told how come your makeup never wears off??! And I Have very oily, acne prone, problematic and sensitive skin. Now this formula is absolutely HORRIBLE! No coverage and definitely NOT worth the name Double Wear anymore! Estée Lauder please please please bring original formula back or you are going to lose a lot of customers! I have no idea how to even begin looking for a new foundation. Will NOT be repurchasing!
My normal color for this foundation is Fresco 2N2 and my recent purchase was Fresco 2C3. Now the foundation has a yellow tint to it. It looks terrible! I truly love this product. It stays on all day without any touch ups but now I am going to have to go back to the store and get matched for a shade.
I used the ORIGINAL formulation for years. It was the ONLY foundation that controlled my very oily skin and did not break me out at all. The makeup lasted for as long as I didn't wash it off. NOW, with this new mess in a bottle, i'm left with a chalky, thin, non-buildable layer of junk on my face. If you attempt to get decent coverage now, it will just eat away at the bottom layer of makeup, instead of building to a nice finish. At least lower the price of the product if you are going to lower the quality. This foundation is now on par with 5$ drugstore junk.
I too am so disappointed! I have worn Linen for years only to find out you discontinued it! I agree with others why would you change something that didn't need to be changed. I guess I will say good bye to Estee Lauder and find something better.
I am heartbroken that EL has changed the formula and taken away my color. Why - why - why would EL do this??? I have used Double Wear Foundation (1C1 Shell) for over 12 years and I loved it. It worked so well with my skin, stayed on all day and the color blended with my skin tone perfectly. I could count on it to last all day at work, on into dinner meetings without having to redo my makeup.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back the original formula and my color (1C1 Shell) or I will have to switch brands and won't be ordering from you again. PLEASE LISTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS!!!
I don't know why Estee Lauder changed their best product to some thing worse. We all like the old formula and the old color of the double wear foundation much better and no body like the new one. Also we like your old double wear concealer better too. No body like your new flawless concealer. Please go back to your old formula. They are the best. You should only try to improve the bad products but not the best one.
I absolutely HATE it when companies discontinue colors. Why can't they just add to the existing colors? FRESCO is gone and I have an unusual skin tone that this color suited perfectly. So disappointing.
I am completely upset. The new line of double wear is unsatisfactory! It is not as good of coverage, the colors are not as natural as before, the SPF 10 is gone! What could ya'll have been thinking? I have been a double wear user for 20 yrs. How could you change a product that so many women just LOVE? Please bring back the same formula and colors!!!
I have always loved Double Wear and have used it for over 15 years. My color was linen, and now that the formula has been changed I am not satisfied. Not to mention my color has been discontinued and I can't find a perfect match. I wish they would have kept the product line the same.
Why in the world was "Shell" discontinued? I advance ordered "Cool Bone" and received it once it was available. It IS deeper in color with a distinct peach tone. I miss the beautiful airbrushed quality that "Shell" had. I always got compliments on my skin with that. It even made me look so good that my doctor thought I looked wonderful even while ill with serious diabetes-related complications. I didn't tell him that it was the make-up! "Cool Bone" is nothing special. The consistency is thinner and coverage is not the same. I cannot comment regarding rub-off on clothes since I have not worn any white tops since wearing the new foundation. Ladies who previously wore "Shell" who have true porcelain skin; e.g., natural redheads, will not be able to use "Cool Bone." My daughter has discovered that already.
I hate the new line for double wear foundation. It is so watery, no coverage what's so ever and does not last 15 hrs as so stated on box. I love the old foundation better and wish they will bring it back. Why change what works for people. This new foundation makes my skin so oily and falls off by the end of the day...simply hate it. I've been wearing this foundation for over 10yrs now and I don't know what to do if they don't change this foundation.
Visited my favorite department store and received a make over by the Estee Lauder rep. Told her I needed full coverage but didn't want it to look cakey. She recommended Double Wear and gave me a makeover. OMG, beautiful results. She not only applied the foundation but the blush, and skin products. Very impressed. I can't buy everything right now but will definitely save my money and buy one item at a time. Thanks.
The Double Wear makeup has never let me down in all the years I have used it. It provides even coverage and allows for blemish concealment without looking "made up". The makeup was still there after some 20 hour days. All I have ever needed to do to freshen was to whisk a bit of loose powder over my face and add a touch more blush. I have a very pale complexion so finding a match has always been difficult but this makeup has literally performed flawlessly. EXCELLENT PRODUCT!
I am surprised by the negative reviews here. I never use the miraculous old version, yet find the new one quite satisfying. I have oily-combination skin, this foundation is buildable, and provides reasonable coverage without being cakey. Yes, it is a bit dry when applied to the chin area but mixing it with a few drops of ANR will solve the issue. Do use a foundation brush though. Overall, nice foundation. As to the color issue--I don't think EL drastically changed their color swatch. I owned an old version of EL double-wear powder foundation back in 2009 in Ecru, and i am still stick with this same color when buying this liquid foundation.
Best For Oily Skin, acne prone skin, full coverage
Contrary to what other people have written, I believe the new formula is better than the old formula. The old formula was too thick and difficult to apply. The new formula has a lighter consistency, but is not gel-like like DW Light. I think this makes it easier to blend. It also does not dry as fast as the old formula, which also allows you to blend this foundation better. The old formula also settled in pores, especially in low light situations - totally unflattering. I don't notice any of these problems with the new formula. Its lighter, yet still provides full coverage and controls oil. And of course, it stays put and doesn't melt away because of oil, heat or humidity. I have tried many other high-end foundations and I always return to this. Just remember to always use a makeup remover to take it off before you cleanse so that it wont clog your pores. I also wish the bottle had a pump, but I was told that because the formula is on the thick side, it clogs pumps and this is why EL has not put a pump on it.
Have worn for years now and has been the perfect foundation. Worked very well on my fair combo skin, and loved that it had SPF as well. After learning the formula and colors have changed, I will be looking elsewhere for another foundation. Sad because I was so pleased with it.
Have used this product for 10 + years as the old Fresco and the formula were a perfect match for my skin and for holding up in Florida humidity. Not only has the color changed so that it no longer blends perfectly into my skin, but over the last few months I have seen it does not wear nearly as long or well....and it is not even summer yet!!! I am more than disappointed, as this is a double whammy and a deal breaker for me. Does anyone there remember NEW COKE? Yeah, that was a bust too. Will have to find something else, and hope you realize the mistake SOON.
Have been a loyal customer of EL for over 30 years. Visited the counter at least once a month and tried almost all their products over the years. Needless to say I have purchased a lot. But when they changed my double wear formula that I was so loyal to and have worn from day one, I'M D0NE! Always understood that it was one of their best sellers. Why would you take it off the market? Why not just add this new one to the double wear collection and give the consumer a choice???
I'm right there with the other disappointed customers regarding the change in the Double Wear foundation formula. Since it's introduction somewhere in the 90's, this foundation has been the cornerstone of my entire make-up application. The replacement formula is only marginal at best and does not apply nor look even remotely like it used to. The old formula was wonderful and not a morning went by that I wasn't amazed after applying. It went on smoothly, was my perfect color match (that's changed too) and made my skin flawless (like a second skin!) with added bonus of lasting at least 14 hours & an SPF. It also withstood our VA hot & humid summers without running off my face. So now, after all these years, I have to seek out another color and formula. Frustrates me to no end, EL. So, I don't get it, why would you guys change a fab product like this? First you discontinued my eye shadow color and now this. Please bring back original formula!
The old Double Wear was outstanding. No other brand come close to that formula. I live in California, you our in a sun all day. You burning out, when you driving, not to mention just outdoors. Why would you change something that amazing? It use to have 15 SPF.Why would you remove it? The 1C1 Shel is gone. Why? What light skin colored women supposed to use? You do not have anything close to that shade, all the rest yellow, beige, much darker. 1C1 Cool bone, much darker! Please Esteelauder, bring the old formula back, we're need a SPF!!!
