I have light pinkish skin. The light shade somehow blends with my skin tone and somewhat evens it out, giving my skin a subtle, polished glow. I wear it alone for a "no make-up" look or with a dusting of foundation powder. I apply the DayWear BB creme over moisturizer with SPF (DayWear). Only a small amount needed!
BACKGROUND: - did not purchase full size; was able to get a small sample over the counter from a department store and writing a review based on FIRST IMPRESSION
I have always been yearning to try BB cream. The benefits of the BB cream has been continually boasted. Now I cannot comment on the SKIN BENEFITS but i can definitely comment on the quality, coverage, usage and application.
QUALITY: thick, creamy texture, quite fragrant at first contact but it does fade away (normal Estee Lauder product fragrance), glides on to feel like a very rich moisturizer
COVERAGE: surprisingly, very very good coverage - the thickness of the BB cream allows for a good even coverage to achieve the look of an even skin tone. The BB cream dries to a semi-matte finish (as in, it doesn't feel or look like I just slathered on a very, very rich and moisturising product) If it's too shiny, powder it down. What i used was a setting/finish powder.
USAGE: a little goes a LONG, LONG, way. When compared to the amount of foundation needed to cover my face, this product definitely covers my entire face with a good even layer using WAY less than the amount of foundation i have normally been using.
APPLICATION: I have been using the beauty blender for foundation application. A sponge will always absorb more product than it needs so applying with a brush or even by fingers is what I would recommend. BRUSH: you may get streaks but nothing a bit of blending won't do FINGERS: your tools of life; can't go wrong. I'm always a bit worried about adding extra 'finger oils' into products but you will FEEL the rich, creamy texture of the BB cream so much more that way.
CONCLUSION: I highly recommend this BB cream because: 1) Coverage is good and is very buildable 2) Will last a long, long time (I can see my small sample 1.5 inch X 1.5 inch baggy lasting 3-5 more applications) 3) does not feel heavy like foundation; will be excellent for everyday wear and could definitely replace foundation for a lot of people 4) i cannot comment on the SKIN BENEFITS but if it does what a BB cream does, this product is a hole in one, must buy product.
NOTE: TWO SHADES IS NOT ENOUGH TO COVER ALL THE SKIN TONES OF NORTH AMERICA; however, i feel that this BB cream has a bit of self-adjusting properties .... it went on darker than my skin tone but ended up drying into a lighter shade. if you're unsure, ask for a sample. the worst they can do is say "no".
Wouldn't give me the perfect coverage, just some, but really evens a skin tone . Looks very natural on my skin. Doesn't emphasis lines. Stays silky through all day. By the end of the day skin is soft and not stressed. The most important (for me :) ), this cream is non-comedogenic! Absolutely non. The best BB cream so far.
Not impressed that Estée Lauder jumped on the "BB Cream" wagon. This "new bb daywear" does nothing for my skin. It has orange undertones, makes my skin dry, looks fake! Bring back the day wear cream it replaced! You've lost a long-term customer...
I bought this because EL discontinued the tinted Daywear and the self-tinting Daywear doesn't work for me (color is too orange). I was attracted by the higher SPF. I use it on the weekends and golf days when I am outside for hours. The light color works pretty well for me after it dries down (it looks a little pasty when first applied). The texture is thicker than I like and the smell is not as nice as the older formula. I also get a few breakouts with it, which never happened with the old formula. (What would be ideal would be if EL brought back the tinted Daywear formula with more SPF. I've been a huge fan of that Daywear formula for years.) It's also a bit expensive for 1 ounce of product; EL has been through several price hikes on everything in the past couple of years, which frankly is causing me to purchase fewer EL products and to become choosier about what I buy.
I keep asking at your retail counters and have been told that the Daywear Sheer Tint is coming back in March. I would like to find out if this is indeed true. I have tried the BB cream and do not like it at all. I loved the Sheer Tint product and refuse to purchase any other Estée Lauder products unless it returns.
This is a sad exchange for the DayWear tinted moisturizer. The BB cream doesnt go on evenly and sits kind of heavy . Didnt have much staying power and the more i use it the more unhappy i get with Este Lauder for taking away the DayWear tinted moisturizer... i wont repurchase this again.
So over the past year i've totally found myself swept away by the BB cream craze...already a beauty junkie due to the fact that i've been a professional makeup artist for the past 8 years..i found myself buying way way way too many of them online. Mainly trying to search for that PERFECT one..well now i've found the perfect one for me. I've tried numerous asian brands..and have always had trouble with my shade. I have a golden/ yellow undertone and, as anyone knows who has tried most asian bb creams..they're usually pink, really really really pink. And the few asian brands i did find that offered a yellow based shade..they were usually still too light. I don't have increadibly dark skin but i'm for sure not pale either. Medium is perfect for me...the texture is cooling and the smell is so refreshing. The inredients are a powerful cocktail of skin-improving amazingness. Buy this if you want to try bb cream for the first time, or even if you're an old pro...you won't regret it. No need for concealer, foundation, and all those steps. This guy has all the coverage that most folks would need and still manages to look just like fresh healthy skin and not like cakey foundation.
The concept is great however, when applied it gives you a cakey/pasty look. I have tried applying a moisturizer before applying this as recommended by an Estee Lauder rep (although it kind of defeats the purpose of this skincare) and results were the same. Please bring back the sheer tint.
Was disappointed at EL counter to find the Day Wear tinted moisturizer no longer available, but willing to try the new BB product. Very disappointing. Does not go on easily and, even when used over moisturizer, when viewed in outdoor or flourescent lighting looks thick and mask-like. I have used EL products since I was 19 and always loved everything I use, until this product. I have tried other brand BB creams and they were never thick and dry looking like this, but they also weren't as nice as the Day Wear tinted cream. Please bring back the Day Wear product, it was perfect and did not require additional products be used to help it work!!!!
This is not a good replacement for the Sheer Tinted Moisturizer. Obviously, the sales staff has been told to triy and convince customers to purchase the BB Cream since the Sheer Tinted Moisturizer is no longer available. It is not a good replacement, but a good way to lose your customers.
My complexion: Very fair (pink undertones), sensitive, dry and mild rosacea
Shade bought: Shade 1 Light
I was afraid of the long list of ingredients potentially aggravating my skin, but instead it has calmed it! The SA mentioned it as a multitasker with a serum built inside. A look at the ingredients indicate no parabens and it has moisturizing ingredients such as cholesterol, linoliec acid and sodium hyalaraunate- excellent moisturizers! This cream is amazing! It makes my skin look flawless and beautfully toned. I no longer need foundation because it also has light coverage. I literally had people tell me my skin glowed!
It is such a wonderful product that I have to buy a back-up as it sells out fast at my EL counter. I wish they made it in bigger sizes as a tube (30ml) lasts me about a month. It is pricey but well worth it!
I am most disappointed that you no longer offer tint release day wear. I'm a busy woman and this was a good choice for me and gave me just the covering I wanted. I don't like B B day wear. It is too heavy and doesn't blend with my skin naturally. Please reconsider.
This is my second favorite product from Estee Lauder. After the beauty rep applied it on my skin at one of Estee Lauder's counters, I was hooked. Very light, skin feels like it can breathe, and my skin tone is evened out. With this product, I've stopped using foundation altogether because there's no need for it. It stays put all day; no oilyness, cracking, or running down. And it is a great anti-oxidant - I don't break out at all anymore (and I've struggled with acne). This is the best thing: put it on and your skin is protected, hydrated and even-toned. Definitely on my 'beauty products can't go without' list.
This is a poor replacement for the Daywear Sheer Tint Release Moisturizer! I have been using that product for years, so you can imagine my surprise when I found out it has been discontinued. Contrary to the sales associate's assurance that the BB cream was just as good, I found that it is just another heavy foundation. Hopping on the current BB bandwagon of products on the market didn't work this time. You have lost a customer.
Best For oily t-zone, large pores, uv protection, light coverage
I was looking for a way to add extra SPF to my beauty routine. Loose mineral powders are so messy and most liquid foundations feel so heavy in warm weather. I received an email about the new BB Anti-Oxidant Creme with SPF 35 and ordered it right away. Oddly enough, after using this product for several weeks, my skin feels like it's actually changing -- it's tighter, pores are smaller and it feels & looks smoother. Even a longstanding enlarged pore that I've had for years is diminishing. BB DayWear goes on matte but feels like it's nourishing the skin rather than drying it out like most matte products. The only way this product could possibly be improved is to offer it in higher SPF levels.
Best For Oily Skin, spf protection, pores appearance
I am not going to base this review on a comparison with the sheer tinted moisturizer, because I prefer to review a product on its own merits.
That being said - I have oily skin 9 months out of the year, and combination skin the other 3 months (the winter-ish season in Texas). This product works very well. I use it after my serum and concealer. However, like most things with SPF, it will give you a "dewy" look. Like most women with oily skin, I tend to shy away from anything looking remotely "dewy" because to us, dewy = shiny. But rest assured -- it is NOT heavy or greasy. It feels light and smooth on. And I simply follow this BB creme with the Double Matte pressed powder, and voila, perfect finish! Even though I've only used it so far during the "winter-ish" months in Texas, I have also worn it during my kids' swim lessons in a hot, humid pool area, and it held up wonderfully. There is no other tinted moisturizer that is going to give you beauty benefits PLUS strong SPF protection, and is also useable for oilier skin types. (In fact, I think this BB creme would be too drying for drier skin types). I am 37 years old, and have been told many times that I look too young to have three kids.
The creme has a definite "SPF smell" when you first apply, but that dissipates quickly - no worries.
I have used the old Day Wear and loved it. The new Day Wear is not as moist as the old. It just doesnt go on as smooth. It is llike it needs more of the moisture creme in it like the old had. Very Sad that it had to change. I love the Estee Lauder line of make up. It doesn't brake out my face.I havent found any that I wasnt happy with until the new Day Wear BB creme. I loved the light weight feeling of the old creme and how it just fit my color. Please consider bringing back the old Day Wear.
I was so happy to see EL bring back a wonderful product with moisture and tint. This is even better than the previous product, because it has the added skin care benefits and the higher SPF of 35.
This is a wonderful product for everyday wear if you want very light coverage. I wear the Double Wear Loose Powder makeup on top of this and it is perfect. Very light on skin but it feels really good and gives just the right amount of moisture and coverage for me.
My only complaint is that the tube is rather small, only 1 oz. I bought another tube already as I don't plan to ever be without this product.
First of all EL, you only made two shades in this product...did you really think about this? It doesn't compare to the daywear sheer tint release. My face broke out within two days. In the future please ensure that kiosk personnel in retail stores is familiar with the product. I'm returning the BB cream today! Give us choices. Bring back the sheer tint release.
