Best For: even skintone!
I have used Estee Lauder products for more than 20 years. This idealist illuminator is one of the best products offered by the company. I am 58 years old and my skin looks better than younger women I know. I tell them Estee Lauder is the best.

This was a refill for this item, don't want to be without. It lightens dark spots and they disapear. My daughter and her husband also use it. We got me hooked on your products and won't use anything else.

Gets rid of red"ish" marks..

Best For: red marks, uneven skin tone
I don't break out as much as I did years ago, but when I do I will have a little red mark left over for weeks. Idealist has 100% helped the healing process, and I see these marks disappear much quicker now. I'm 29 and will forever use Estee Lauder, as my mother did and had beautiful skin!

I am a 57 year old woman and have been using Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator since fall of 2011. I believe I am into my third bottle by now. I have seen a vast improvement in my skin. While I do not have a lot of wrinkles or lines, I do have a history of acne and some scarring. I think I have tried every product on the market! I believe this product has helped me. It has made my skintone look much better and I believe scarring is improving. My adult acne has been almost eliminated, which could have to do with aging, but not necessarily. All I know is that my skin improved greatly AFTER I began using this product. I have actually been receiving compliments on my skin and how nice it looks! That is exciting for me as my skin was one of my biggest concerns. I will definitely continue to use!

I can't use foundations because of my sensitive skin and I've struggled to find a concealer that isn't too cakey or matte. My problem was solved when I received a sample bottle of this. Since I was so afraid of reacting to this, I used a small amount as a test. No reaction. Then I decided why not try this with concealer? So, I mixed some of this serum with concealer and it came out as foundation. I really liked it as it attenuated my redness and made my concealer easier to apply giving me enough glowy coverage. Too bad, the smallest bottle (30 mL) is pricy but given that I can make my 'own foundation' with this, it's a keeper for me.

I have a birthmark on the side of my face that starts by my eye and curves in a crescent down my cheek. As I have gotten older, this birthmark has gotten darker and become more noticeable. Rarely would a day go by without someone asking me if I had a black eye or telling me I had makeup smeared down my face. Makeup would only do so much to hide this mark. I began using the Idealist just over two months ago, and I am beyond AMAZED at the results. The birthmark has not only faded, it is lighter than it has ever been in my life. You have to look closely now to even notice it is there. I am beyond thrilled with the results I have achieved with the Even Skintone Illuminator, and it will now be as big a staple in my skincare regime as my A.N.R. is. I really cannot express how happy I am with this product!

Maybe it is just my skin type but this product caused me to have breakouts. I was very disappointed. I had so hoped it would do all that it was advertised.

I love this. It is somehow shimmery yet mattifying. It makes your skin look amazing. It has definitely evened out my skin tone, as far as reducing the redness is acne scars, can't tell yet as it has only been 1.5 weeks.

Dazzled by the pretty bottle and all the buzz, I switched to this serum from the original Idealist, and I broke out like crazy. I love Estee Lauder products but not this one.

At first I was very excited to use this product because I have occasional acne that leaves scars on my fair skin.
I finished the entire bottle and notice my skin did look a little clearer BUT I couldnt stand the constant oily look this Illuminator gave off. The actual product has a shimmer to it and combined with natural oily prone skin this was not a good look. If it didnt contain shimmer this product would be great.

This is my first Estee Lauder skincare purchase. I have dark spots on my cheeks from sun damage which became prominent after using another high end brand moisturiser which promised to fade dark spots.
After two weeks of using this product twice a day I was pleasantly surprised. My skin is more evenly toned and the sun spots appear to be fading. I look forward to seeing how my skin looks in three months time. A great product which actually works.
The only cons are that the size of the bottle is quite small, the product is heavily perfumed, and it is expensive.

I have been using this for 2 weeks and just after 1 week I noticed a difference in a few small dark spots I got from tanning on my cheek bone.. They we lighter.My skin redness is much improved and skin tone evened out .My skin glows even after I wash my face. I was so shocked as I bought this and was not expecting big changes. I really like how this product is oil free, and the fragrance is lovely light and lemony. I really like the golden opal essence color of the liquid its so subtle. Gives a" healthy glow".

I had been using this product for quite some time but was running low on it and didn't order it in time before I ran out. It made a difference in me and it was obvious to me that it was this Illuminator that had been making the difference. I reordered some and I'm back in business! Everyone says I look fabulous, and NOBODY can guess my age - soon to be 67 and most people take me for early 40s.. This product helps to do that for me - no exaggeration at all. Just remember that it doesn't happen overnight - the diffference. So stick with it and you'll be glad you did!!!!!!

I had high hopes for this product - it was my first Estee Lauder purchase and I bought the big bottle and used it religiously in the morning and at night for several months as the instructions said, but I didn't notice a single difference in my skin. On the other hand, my friend started using BB cream around the same time that I started using this serum. I thought this would definitely beat out BB cream, but I was wrong. While her skin has gotten noticeably better, mine has remained exactly the same. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be using BB cream either since the whiteners in it make me feel a little uneasy, but I really had hoped this would work! I'm not sure if I'll continue trying Estee Lauder products.

I have been using this product for about 3 weeks, and I started seeing a difference the 3rd day. I have acne spots and this product really helped brightening those spots. Well since my whole complextion is brighter, the spots are still there but you can definetly feel the product working, I find the product not moisturizing at all, as a matter of fact very drying, so I use it AM and PM TOGETHER with night repair serum. and I use a good amount as well, so a 1 oz bottle is probably going to last me about 6 weeks. And every morning when I wake up I see a difference. It helps renewing your cells and healing the problem area.( I also exfoliate twice a week with mud masks.)

I honestly don't see an amazing difference in my skin. The corrections its supposed to make aren't gone at all. I do see an overall brightness in my face, but I don't think this was the product for me. EL, I think you should look over at this product. I really don't think it works well with all ethnicities. It also didn't perform even skintone at all. My chin and lower areas on my face are not as bright as my cheeks and forehead.
