Enchanted forest is a beautiful color. I have green eyes and light skin and this color is not dark. It is a silvery grey green and I have never found a color like it at any store. I have tried greens before but just because someone has green eyes it doesn't mean all green eyeshadow looks good on them. This one is a winner.
Because my hair is white, I have had problems getting a proper eyebrow color. I telephones Lauder's people, and a young woman suggest I try the taupe shades of their Pure Color eyeshadow on my brows. What an excellent suggestion!! Not only did I get a perfect match for my hairshade, but it is easy to put on stays on all day.
I have purchased 14 of these so far. Yes, I'm an eyeshadow junkie! LOL The Matte shades make the most perfect eyeliner ever, goes on smooth blends out nicely. The Satin shades glide on like butter. The metallic shades are really nice, subtle glitter, not too much metallic - just enough to still be classy and sophisticated - I wouldn't expect anything less from Estee Lauder! The Matte, Satin & Metallic shades are super pigmented and stay on all day (with a shadow base). They're all lovely and I adore them - the Shimmer shades - not so much. I was truely surprised in the difference of the shimmer shades. They're hard to get out of the pan on to the brush, they do NOT glide on like butter and the color is splotchy and uneven on the eyelid. I'm not a big fan of the Shimmers - but the rest of the line knocked my socks off!
I thought most cosmetics were all about the same. This eye shadow proved me wrong. It goes on smoothly and stays on all day, no creasing or wearing off like other brands. Just wish the applicator had a longer handle to grasp. I'm sure I'll get used to it. I love all EL items I have tried. Truly a remarkable product line.
I bought this is nocturnal blue and it is so pretty. It is a blue-purple shade (blueberry shade?) and it is unique because I haven't found a similar shade in other brands. It is richly pigmented. I use it mostly as an eyeliner and sometimes in the outer corners with medium pink eyeshadow on my lids and violet (berry burst) in the crease. Though I wish it would last longer (it lasts 3hrs before it starts to fade).
I discovered this shade when I got a makeover. I recall the SA used this eyeshadow along with plum-grey eyeliner to line my lower and upper lids halfway and topped off with indigo extreme mascara. She said because I have small eyes- avoid lining the entire eyelid. I love the combination of the indigo mascara and nocturnal blue as an eyeliner! So so pretty!
I have green eyes and along with the pink and plum shades, it made them pop. Though I can see this working with brown eyes too. This is because green eyes work well with violet and brown eyes with navy, and nocturnal blue has both undertones. Try it as an eyeliner!
I like these shadows a lot, they stay without creasin and traveling. They go on smoothy, and blend easily. I actually use the Sugar Cube color as a highlight under some finishing powder. I have very pale skin so it can be hard to find a highlight light enough, so Sugar Cube is perfect for me. I receive compliments all the time when I do this, and am told my skin "glows".
Shades bought: Broadway gold & Hot cinnamon How I wear them: Broadway gold on lid, hot cinnamon on outer part of lid and in crease. I also wore these with some bronze eyeliner and black mascara
Overall effect: (Mine) Natural and pretty (Men): Sexy!
I picked these shades because they looked pretty and natural for daytime. However,I did not expect my guy friends to compliment me on my eyes! Who knew yellow gold and bronze makes for a hot pairing! Although the hot cinnamon has some slight fall-out, I solved it using a slightly damp eyeshadow brush. Since, these shadows look as though they will last a long time and I like the staying power, I'll be looking at other pairings! My next purchases are likely to be: nocturnal blue, tempting mocha and berry burst given how these looked so pretty in store!
Well, I got the Gold gift set at Christmas, and Smokey Embers was one of the colors in the eye shadow case. I absolutely LOVED it - I've never worn anything in that color family and it was perfect for my skin tone. But when I went to purchase the full-size I found out it was a limited edition and was sold out everywhere. Recently I discovered they had re-issued it, and I immediately bought it... however it seems they've somehow made it just a little lighter in the new version and I was really disappointed. I still have a bit of the original left, so I was able to compare and I defintely see a difference. I have a similar shade in another brand that i bought while it was sold out, but that one was too bold, and when I mix the together it comes out perfectly - almost exactly like the original shade. hopefully in the future they will adjust and go back to the original color.
Lavish Mink is a beautiful, dense, truly matte, VERY dark brown that makes a perfect, long-wearing eyeliner shade! I love it because it is not chocolate-y: no orange or yellow undertones, just perhaps a hint of charcoal. Very neutral and pretty. If the rest of the reformulated shades are as good as this, I can't wait to try more!
I started using this eye shadow a couple of years ago and was thrilled with it! When combined with the EL eye base, it's the best I've ever used. Blends nicely, lasts all day/night, and a decent selection of colors - although it would be nice to have more matte colors to choose from. I do like matte finish colors better, the Sandbar Beige is the best, it's most like my natural skin tone. I hope they never discontinue this color!
