Best For someone looking for a summery floral fragrance
Gardenia Rattan is a very nice fragrance. It's a sweet, bright floral, and is very wearable -- not at all cloying like some white flower fragrances can be. It didn't have as much staying power as I'd hoped, though, and it really doesn't smell like gardenia to me (and I have a gardenia right outside my back door). It's a nice summery scent and I would recommend it, but if you're looking for a true gardenia scent, try Estee Lauder's Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia. It's a bit heady at first, but softens to the truest gardenia scent I've found. Gardenia Rattan is a lighter and brighter scent so if that's what you're looking for it would be perfect.
I am not a big fan of most gardenia perfumes because they are strong and just don't get it right. Reluctantly, I tried sample of Aerin's Gardenia Rattan and I have to say, it is by far one of my favorite fragrances to wear - as well as my favorite in the collection (with Lilac Path a close second). It is not super strong and smells wonderful (making it great for the office). My only objection is that the fragrance doesn't seem to linger when sprayed on exposed areas (such as arms or wrists). I can count on it lingering on the nape of my neck though. Love this fragrance.
If gardenia is your flower, Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia has a much stronger, purer gardenia fragrance. This one has a bit of woodiness that takes the brightness off the gardenia. I get lots of compliments on the Private Collection fragrance, but this one didn't seem to last and didn't seem special.
Fragrance is my only real indulgence and I own hundreds. I am difficult to impress though and out of the hundreds I probably wear 10 on a regular basis. I ordered this blind, based on Estee Lauder's reputation and the description of the fragrance. I was not disappointed It is truly a work of art.! It smells like gardenias after a rainfall at the beach. It is a beautiful scent and yet different enough to stand out. I have been wearing it about 3-4 hours now and still keep smelling my wrist. Good job Aerin! I can't wait to try the Amber Musk (after my wallet recovers from Xmas :-)
