Color intense
Date:May 22, 2013
The color is very intense so a little goes a long way. Love it. And the beautiful compact with generous brush is also a plus. Intend to get more colors.
I love pink blushes, but when I first saw the Naughty and its bright red hue, I had to buy it. Compared to the other blushes available, this one is a lot more intense in many ways! The red is very bright and bold while most others are subtle and natural. This is also a very strong pigment! I literally just touch the ends of my brush to it and carefully apply as it is extremely pigmented. I love it for a dramatic look - I never emphasize my cheeks but this seems to really accentuate my cheekbones and make them look more pronounced.
I have purchased different blushes before from other cosmetic companies, but this is the one for me. This color is a great one because it is not too bright and not too light.
I picked the right color. However, I have trouble to use it. The blush is very pigmented with " soft " texture. I dip my brush into it, touch my cheeks and two unflattering clownish blotches appear. The rest of my morning make-up routine is spent trying to deal with it and make it to appear more natural. I keep using the remnants of my old, other blush - not a good thing. I wasted my money.
This is the third or fourth time over the years that my shade has changed color names, and style. From Desert, to True Sand, and now Lover's Blush Shimmer. The case shape and design also changes. This case does indeed look more elegant than those in the past, but the latch is difficult to open. I broke a nail, and have now put a piece of tape on it so that it no longer latches shut, as I had to use a knife after having broken my nail. Been an Estee Lauder fan for years, but this is a bit disturbing.
I really like this blush, I'm surprised to see so much negativity about it. I have the Pink Kiss color, which is a lovely pink with just enough warmth in it. It doesn't turn too orange on my cooler toned skin, but does warm up and brighten my face nicely. It doesn't really have shimmer - but does give a satin-y look, just a glow. Yes, it is very pigmented - it takes just a touch of my blush brush to get a perfect looking, very natural flush. To me, that is a good thing - I will take forever to use up this amount of blush in this pan - making it really quite affordable when all is said and done. Now, as for the container - I initially thought it was difficult to open too, and did break a nail once or twice. Then I realized that the secret - at least with the one I have, is not to worry about trying to push in the little latch - just hold the compact in both hands, with each of your thumbs on one side of the opening, and pull. Opens pretty easily this way, and no more broken nails :)
Love Estee products...BUT..... this Pure Color Blush compact is AWFUL! I cannot get it open without breaking a fingernail....Really bad for anyone who has arthritis..Please make it eaiser for us 'older' ladies to use your products or we may need to go somewhere else.
I do not like the new line of blush. I have used True Sand Signature blush for years and miss it. I also used your previous line in Dessert. I have been an Estee Lauder customer for many years, but will have to find another line. Please bring back True Sand Signature Blush!!!!
The blush color is very heavy and the case is terribly hard to open. I had used the True Sand Signature silky powdwer blush for years and loved it --this is only so-so as it can make you look rather clownish if not applied very lightly. I wish the True Sand blush was back in the collection line.
You have to apply this with a very light hand, or else you will end up looking like a clown. It is SO pigmented, I do half a sweep with a full-size EL brush (normally I do about 3 full sweeps in the blush before I apply) and it looks like I used more blush with this than it normally does with other blushes, even when I use 6x as much. When I have enough time to actually make it look good, I take half a sweep, tap some loose powder onto my counter top, and swirl my brush (with this blush on it) together so it has a more subtle color. But, this takes a while, at least 5 minutes so I can blend it into my cheeks, since it still looks very pigmented and it is hard sometimes to work it in and have it looking natural. Usually, it takes a minute or two to do my blush, sometimes even faster. This, for the price just isn't worth the time and the look it ends up having.
I would recommend this only if you can open the case. Fortunately it can be returned. I think this is an excellent blush with great color choices, however the case is almost impossible for me to open - when I brought it back, the salesperson tried a couple others and they were also very difficult - I can't waste time in the morning while getting ready for the day - let alone ever refreshing during the day! Please make a better case - and less bulky and heavy please!
I bought this at an Estée Lauder counter. The kind lady helping me had a terrible time trying to open the compact. Beautiful compact, but not user-friendly. She had long nails, so I thought that maybe it was because her nails were in the way! But since I bought it, I have wrestled with it every morning, and I have short nails.
The other complaint is that the pigmentation is INTENSE. I have to tap the brush, and then barely apply it, and sometimes go over it with powder. The lady at the counter warned me that this is stronger than previous blushes, and that if I apply as I normally would, my cheeks will appear to be on fire!
But on a positive note, it's a fine-quality blush that never streaks or appears chalky. And the fact that a little goes a long way means that it will last a long time! Overall, I would recommend it.
